Overview & Reviews
The base trim level has been dropped. The 2.7-liter V6 is now standard (the LX still gets the 3.5-liter V6), as is an automatic transmission. Also newly standard this year are four-wheel antilock brakes and traction control. Exterior changes include a new grille surround, side cladding, taillamps, tailgate handle, rear bumper design and alloy wheels. Inside, there is new seat fabric, an upgraded two-tone color scheme and a revised instrument cluster. A power driver seat is now standard on the LX, and a compass is included with the optional sunroof.
- Reasonable price, strong warranty, roomy interior, long list of standard features, solid construction, good crash test scores.
- Thirsty at the pump for a small car-based SUV, soft suspension limits handling ability.

Good choice among SM SUV - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By JT - May 30 - 11:03 amGenerally, I like my 2005 Santa Fe. I drive in city mostly, so, it has enough power for me. Not so good when going uphill. If I could choose again, Id buy the 3.5L instead. Good sound quality. Excellent steering, suspension and smooth ride for normal driving. Big trunk space. Beware of dealers overcharging on fees other than the car price.

Santa Fe 2005 - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Frank - May 26 - 5:00 pmExcellent value for the money. Good overall quality and fun to drive. Many extras that would cost more on competitive models, plus you cannot beat the warranty and free roadside assistance.

Great SUV with one major problem - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Carrie - May 3 - 4:16 amThis is my first SUV which I bought used and absolutely love. It runs great, is comfortable and gets pretty good gas mileage. Ive had it for 2 years now and have just now run into a snag. My Crank sensor went out on me without any warning. I was driving to work and everything was fine and all of a sudden it started jerking, all my warning lights came on and then it just died on me. I had to have it towed to the dealership & unfortunately my warranty ran out 6 weeks ago so now Im looking at around $500. Other then this it has been a great first SUV & I would definitely purchase another one.

The 2.7 AWD Santa Fe - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Sant fe - April 27 - 9:40 amI would reccomend buying this SUV to anyone looking for a worthwhile SUV at a very reasonable price. I purchased the same model in June of 03 and I liked it so much that I traded mine in for a newer model. They handle great, look great and get good gas mileage!

Solid performer - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Mary Book - April 14 - 10:40 amThis is a solid and fun car to drive. It is especially great in bad weather, heavy rain, snow, wind. It stays stable on the road with the AWD doing the work for you. It has comfortable firm seating,a good view from its higher elevation, and a nice powerful engine. The Monsoon sound system is incredable. The 6 disc changer works effortlessly, the dash panel is easy to access and read. You can haul a lot inthe back and on top if need be. The paint, finish and detail is extra nice. You get a lot for the money. Ive had no major mechanical problems in the two years Ive owned the car.

Love it! - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Sandy R. - March 21 - 7:30 amThis is my first SUV, every winter I wish I had a 4-wheel drive so I researched online and decided on the Santa Fe. Very glad I did, I love it! Ive gotten a lot of compliments. I already owned an Elantra so I got the owner loyalty rebate along with the special incentive rebate that was going on at the time.

We made a good purchase - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Dick in AZ - February 15 - 3:00 pmWe bought this Santa Fe about a month before making a 2000 mile trip back to Ohio. It was three years old when we bought it and had 32,000 miles. After driving it 6,000+ miles so far, I have to say it is the most comfortable vehicle I think I have driven to date (Im 63, 57" 150#). The display for the air conditioning/heating is rather hard to see while driving, but functions well. We get about 16-18 around town, and the first time I checked it on our trip, we got 27mpg @ 75mph with the air on! I like the way it handles but it is a wee bit top heavy, but it has never been a problem. The only negative comment I have is the gas pedal; it seems sluggish, then suddenly leaps forward.

Excellent Value, Car like Ride.......... - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By IlovemySantaFe - January 8 - 6:03 amI am so happy with my new Santa Fe I had to come on-line and write a review. It has everything I wanted and more, excellent value and warranty and the sales experience were quick and painless. My salesperson Bobby explained everything and showed me all the features and benifits of buying a quality Suv. Most important Hyundai has done so much to improve the quality of their cars and with their warranty I have no worries.
